Empty Pools | Vanderbilt Cup (The Soft’s ‘Long Island’ Mix)
If ever you needed something to arrive at the very brink of a weekend, something to take you out from any work routine and into a hazy 48 hours of escape. These ten minutes will fly by; by the end you’ll be in another place entirely. Far flung from the hyped-up, enthralling original of Bristol band and MFM favourites, Empty Pools have been transformed through the work of experimentalists The Soft, a band who consistently impress - I’ve seen them live twice now and you can tell they’re improving at a quite drastic speed - affirming the theory that if two great minds meet, you get a result of pure brilliance, rather than a stubborn clashing of heads.

Vanderbilt Cup (The Soft’s ‘Long Island’ Mix)
We’re thrilled to be part of a compilation album ‘From The Outside Looking In‘ from Gold Flake Paint, a Bristol based webzine. Celebrating 2 years of Gold Flake Paint the 18 track CD/digital download includes a track from us - ‘Vanderbilt Cup’ - remixed by The Soft. Listen to it now on Bandcamp. A big thank you to Tom for asking us and to The Soft for the remix. Enjoy!

Tipping Point / BBC 6 Music ›
We got a nice write up on Tipping Point today, from those good people at Generator. Also for anyone who missed our Facebook update over the weekend we were played on the BBC 6 Music Nemone show on Sunday (with Jon Hillcock filling in) as part of the Record Exchange feature. Listen to The Crib’s reaction to our song ‘Vanderbilt Cup’ on iPlayer.
White Denim
Ohhhhh boy. Oh boy. Boy-o. We will be supporting White Denim at their Bristol show on May 21 at the O2 Academy. I don’t want to promise anything, but if there were ever a stage to try out our choreographed dance moves…
We’ve got a £5 cheap list so email us or RSVP here. Information here. Ben and Matt’s reaction video here.
From May’s Crack Magazine
It’s always refreshing to hear an intriguing band emerge in an often beat-blinded Bristol, and a handful of tight and dynamic live appearances and a highly impressive first release has got this lot some serious attention in a big way. Building patient and mature pieces around extremely current, dreamy female vocals with a knack for a hook, intelligent and distinctly British lyrics and an evident penchant for noise which is kept admirably restrained, their swelling reputation as a live act seems a cert to translate to further releases.
Or: “tight… in a big way… swelling… releases”
BBC 6 Music and New Noise
We were on Tom Robinson’s Mixtape for BBC 6 Music last night! You can download it here for 30 days.

So honoured to be included in Jon Hillcock’s New Noise podcast as well, alongside Laurel Halo, Doldrums, Opossum + more. Talk about feeling like the nerd at the cool kids’ party. “Hints of bands like Life Without Buildings”!?
